Decoding Jackson Pollock →
patrickrhone: I’m now convinced that Pollock wrote his name in large letters on the canvas—indeed, arranged the whole painting around his name. As far as I can tell, no one has previously made this assertion. Nor is there evidence that Pollock himself, who was loath to talk about his art and left behind few written records, ever mentioned this coded gesture. Beyond fascinating. I get very...

WSJ: Foursquare About to Hit 1 Million Members →
soupsoup: idiosyncratic-routine: via WSJOnline: Brooklyn photographer Kristina Hill, for example, checks in at her local coffee shop Roots Café every morning. And nearly every morning she spies Roots Café’s Foursquare mayor, currently New York University graduate student Travis Helwig, also grabbing his caffeine fix. Hill said she now finds herself stopping for coffee just so she can check...

Polaroid Film Back On Sale This Week →
instantfilm: With an assist from Lady Gaga, The Impossible Project pushed new black-and-white film back on the market this week, promising that color film is coming soon. However, apparently some of the endearing aberrations of the film have been (accidentally?) fixed. “The colors feel quite different,” Cookman says. “They are not crisp and clear and [it] has a certain retro feel to it in terms...

How I’d Hack Your Weak Passwords →
dbooster: “If you invited me to try and crack your password, you know the one that you use over and over for like every web page you visit, how many guesses would it take before I got it?” The article is a bit scary, but y’know what: People need to be scared about this. It’s so easy to pick a good password, but so few people do. If you want help, at least on the mac, use 1password. Here’s...

A Touch for Funny Bones and Earlobes (via The... →
My sister and I spent a lot of weekends when we were small with my Grandmother - and we’d beg to watch Carol Burnett each Saturday night. A lot of my favorite memories of her is watching her laugh at all of the things I didn’t catch. Watching Carol Burnett, Bob Newhart and (especially) The Mary Tyler Moore Show shaped a lot of what my cousins, sister and I find funny today.

Friends
brettkelly: Friends help you move. Real friends help you run new water lines underneath your ancient house while braving untold beasts and bugs. Psychotic friends help you move bodies.

Instapaper in Byline
minimalmac: Here’s how you do it. Go to Instapaper an set it up to import your starred items from Google Reader. Now, back in Byline, when you star an article it will be starred in Google Reader and show up in the GR folder in IP. I have not tried this yet (dealing with a sick kid) but, if this works, I will be a very happy man and dub the submitter (Harmon) a BadAss™. Update: Here are very...
